Jon Mack was an impact football player for four seasons as both safety and at punter. When his career ended, Mack held school records for career punting average (38.2), season punting yardage (2,565) and punting yards in a game (430). A three year starter at safety, Mack finished his career with 18 interceptions and 151 tackles. He was named to the Second Team NAIA Division I All-America team as a safety following both the 1981 and the 1982 season. Mack was also named to the Honorable Mention AP Little All-America team in 1981. Northwood finished in the top-three in the GLIAC twice in his career and posted a 6-2-1 record overall in 1980, which was the second best winning percentage (.722) in school history at the time.
