RECAP: SVSU netted an early winner and added an insurance goal late as the Timberwolves fell 2-0 in a tough GLIAC road match.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Saginaw Valley opened the scoring early as just five minutes in Joe Wright found Azaad Liadi who beat Northwood goalkeeper Bennett Stokes for the opening tally.
- The Cardinals would have the majority of the ball in the first half as they outshot the Timberwolves 7-1 in the opening frame.
- Stokes saved the only other shot on frame, and the score at the half remained 1-0.
- Neither team was able to put another shot on frame until the 75th minute when Saginaw Valley's Pablo Ortiz found the back of the net after a restart to make the score 2-0.
- The Timberwolves would have a chance to get a goal back in the 88th minute, but Ben Campbell's effort missed wide left.
