MIDLAND, MICH. – Sophomore Mason Phillips was named the inagural GLIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week after his performance in the first weekend of indoor track and field action. This is the first weekly GLIAC honor of his career.
At the Tiffin Alumni Open this past Saturday (December 1), Phillips won the men's 60 meter dash in 6.76 seconds.
The 60m dash mark gives him the early #1 time in NCAA Division II and the GLIAC. A personal best mark, Phillips also tied the school record set by Matt Jackson (2000) and Will Fulton (2009).
His time ranks him #4 in this week's All-College Top #10 list. This list is compiled of performances across all divisions from the weekend.
Northwood's men's and women's indoor track and field teams will compete in the SVSU Holiday Open Friday (December 7).
