The Northwood University women's soccer team earned its second straight win Sunday afternoon (October 20) with a 2-0 victory on the road Sunday afternoon (October 20).
Northwood is now 5-7-1 overall, 4-5 in the GLIAC. Lake Erie falls to 4-8-1 overall, 3-4-1 in the GLIAC.
The Timberwolves got on the board early, netting the first goal of the game in the eighth minute. Senior defender Allie Misner (Macomb, Mich./Eisenhower) scored for the second straight match, putting home a rebound off a shot from Jessica Flores (Tujunga, Calif./Verdugo Hills) to put Northwood up early.
Northwood then extended their lead late in the half. Freshman Jessica Esser (Utica, Mich./Eisenhower) netted her fourth goal of the season at 41:43, off a feed from Allison Carroll (Grand Blanc, Mich.)
Neither team would score the rest of the way.
For the match, Lake Erie finished with a 17-12 advantage in shots and a 3-0 edge in corner kicks. Northwood's freshman keeper Samantha Cook (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon East) performed well in goal for the Timberwolves, making 13 saves for her second straight shutout.
