The Northwood University cross country teams competed in the 2013 Michigan Intercollegiate Championships at Hillsdale College Friday afternoon (October 11).
The women's team turned in another strong performance led by senior Danielle Miller (Clinton Twp., Mich./Fraser). She placed 2nd out of 84 non-division I competitors in the event, clocking an 18:36.85 over the 5K course. Senior Kelsey Burgess (Byron Center, Mich./Grand Rapids South Christian) was 6th with a time of 19:04.95. Northwood fell to the #22 ranked DII team in the country in Saginaw Valley and placed ahead of Calvin College, the #8 NCAA DIII team in the country.
Also scoring for the Timberwolves were sophomore Jenny Frantz (Midland, Mich. / Midland) running a 19:36.41, junior Brittany Robichaud (Monroe, Mich. / Monroe) clocked a 19:50.15 and sophomore Chloe Thiel (Plainwell, Mich. / Plainwell) ran a sub-20:00 at 19:57.99 placing 21 out a total of 84 competitors in the women's race. The gap between NU's 1-5 runners was a season-low of 1:21.
Northwood will compete in the GLIAC Championship in Houghton, Mich. on October 26.
