Esports: Six Northwood Esports Teams Qualify for NECC National Championships

MIDLAND, MICH. – Following a dominant performance at the Collegiate Esports Commissioners Cup (CECC), where Northwood University Esports captured three national championships, the Timberwolves now shift their attention toward another major postseason event: the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) National Championships.

Teams:
Varsity Overwatch
Varsity Marvel Rivals
Varsity Valorant
Varsity Rocket League
Varsity Smash Bros
Varsity League of Legends

Earlier this spring, Northwood's varsity Overwatch, Rocket League, and Valorant teams secured automatic qualification for the NECC National Championships after winning their respective Division 1 conference championships in April.

During the same weekend as CECC competition, additional Timberwolves squads punched their tickets to the national stage through the NECC Last Chance Qualifier. The varsity Smash Bros, Marvel Rivals, and League of Legends teams all earned qualification spots, bringing Northwood's total to six teams competing at the event.

With momentum continuing to build throughout the postseason, the Timberwolves will look to add even more national titles to an already historic year for the program. Northwood enters the event after recently claiming CECC national championships in Overwatch, Valorant, and Rocket League, further cementing its position as one of the top collegiate esports programs in the country.

All six teams will travel to San Antonio, Texas on May 13 and compete at the Boeing Center at Tech Port from May 14-17 as they battle for NECC national championships to conclude the spring postseason.
