P.J. Weaver Named Assistant Basketball Coach

The Northwood men's basketball team has announced the hiring of P.J. Weaver as assistant men's basketball coach.

He joins Tom Church's staff for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Weaver comes back to Northwood after serving as a head varsity basketball coach at Bay City Western High School last year. In his first season as a varsity head coach, he led Western to 11 wins, their best season since 2011.

Weaver was a two-year starter for the Timberwolves from 2015-17 He scored 379 points and grabbing 223 rebounds in 45 games, under former coach Jeff Rekeweg.

A Dayton, Ohio native, Weaver earned his bachelor's degree from Northwood University in business administration in 2020. 

"I am so pumped up and excited to pick up where I left off here at this beautiful school, but this time as a coach," said Weaver.  "We have so much potential to do something special for our school, city and, most of all, alums. I look forward to helping bring some extremely high energy and light back into our men's basketball program."
