RECAP: Northwood softball wrapped up their weekend trip to Illinois with a battle with Mo.-St. Louis. The Timberwolves rolled out a pitching shut out from Brynn Polega to take game one, 3-0. UMSL then took game two 7-3 for the series split.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

• The Timberwolves took the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first via a double steal from Ashley Ziel and Ashlyn Lundquist, scoring Lundquist from third, 1-0 NU.
• Brynn Polega proved that would be all the runs the Timberwolves would need, going seven innings, striking out eight, and throwing a shutout.
• The Timberwolves tacked on two more in the seventh after a two-run double from Gage Lambert down the left field line, 3-0 NU.
• Polega faced four batters in the seventh but nailed down the win for the Timberwolves 3-0 and notched her first win of the season.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

• Mo.-St. Louis jumped out to a big lead in the first. The Tritons' 5-0 lead came from six singles, a hit by pitch, and a walk.
• In Northwood's half of the second, a two-out double from Chloe Cooper to right started a Timberwolves' rally. Northwood capitalized on a defensive miscue in center, scoring Cooper from second, 5-1 NU.
• Gabby Schloop followed that up with a triple to score Carney Salo from second and cut the lead to 5-2.
• An UMSL miscue in the third led to another Timberwolves run, 5-3 UMSL.
• Northwood did not get any closer than the 5-3 deficit. The Tritons added one in the third and another in the sixth, 7-3 UMSL.
• UMSL's led proved to be too much for Northwood, taking the 7-3 win in game two to split the series.
