Softball Sweeps G-MAC Athlete Of The Week Honors With Gale And Polega
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Delanie Gale and Brynn Polega of the Northwood softball team earned Player and Pitcher Athlete of the Week from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Monday (March 10). It's the first career Athlete of the Week honor for each and the first honors for Northwood softball this season.
Polega earned G-MAC Pitcher of the Week appearing in four games last week, finishing the week with a 3-0 record and a 1.03 earned run average over her 20.1 innings pitched. The senior struck out 21, allowing just three earned runs, including a complete game in a 4-3 win over St. Cloud St. (March 6).
Gale led the Timberwolves to a 4-2 mark this week, earning G-MAC Player of the Week. The third baseman went 8-19 from the plate with two doubles, a triple, and a home run. She drove in a team-leading 11 runs, scoring six on her own, with two steals, and a .789 slugging percentage.
Northwood softball continues their Florida trip today (March 10) with a doubleheader at Legends Way Softball Complex in Clermont, Fla. The Timberwolves have scheduled night matchups with Minn.-Duluth at 7:30 p.m. and Bemidji St. at 8:45 p.m.
