RECAP: Northwood sets multiple records while extending its winning streak to 16 with a doubleheader sweep over Tiffin Sunday (April 6), taking game one 9-3 and game two 17-2.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • Northwood wasted no time getting going in the bottom of the first inning, starting with an Alex Jarboe two-run single to make the score 2-0.
  • Brendan Hammer followed with a sacrifice bunt that scored a run, which was followed by a Tiffin error that made the score 4-0 after one inning.
  • The Dragons got one back in the top of the fourth to get within three.
  • NU responded right away in the bottom of the fourth. Drew Charters got the lead back to four with an RBI single.
  • Jarboe followed with a two-run single that put NU on top 7-1.
  • Myles Beale added to the Timberwolves lead in the bottom of the fifth on a Myles Beale RBI single.
  • Hammer finished the scoring for Northwood in the bottom of the sixth, making the score 9-1.
  • Tiffin got two in the seventh to make the final 9-3.

  • Tiffin got on the board in the first inning with a single run for the early lead.
  • Northwood responded right away in the bottom of the first thanks to another RBI from Jarboe. His fifth RBI of the day on a single tied the score 1-1.
  • NU's offense kept the rolling in the second on a two-run single from Anthony Manganello to push the advantage to 3-1.
  • Tiffin took advantage of an error by Northwood to cut the lead down to 3-2 in the third.
  • The Timberwolves came right back with another big inning in the bottom of the third, starting with a two-run double for Ben Narr.
  • Manganello added two more RBIs with a single to put the Timberwolves on top 7-2.
  • Northwood kept the offense rolling in the fourth. Logan Voth came through with a two-run double.
  • Beale followed with a sacrifice fly that put Northwood into double digits to make the score 10-2.
  • Northwood blew the game open in the bottom of the sixth, starting the big inning with an RBI bunt single by Voth.
  • Beale followed with an RBI single to make the advantage 10 at 12-2.
  • Caden Duryea made the score 14-2 with a two-run triple.
  • Manganello earned his fifth RBI of the game on an error.
  • Spencer Fortier plated the final two runs of the game with a single that made the score 17-2.
  • With Northwood leading by 10 runs in the seventh, the run-rule ended the game

  • Northwood's current streak has set numerous records:
    • Longest winning streak in program history (16), breaking the old record of 15 from 2023.
    • Best conference start in program history, breaking the old record of 13-0 set in 2023.
    • Best start for any team in Great Midwest conference play, breaking the old record set by Northwood in 2023.
  • The Timberwolves have now been in the G-MAC for three years and have swept 10 of the 20 four-game conference series they have played in. NU has taken at least three of four in 17 of 20 series and at least two out of four games in 19 of 20 total series. Northwood went 1-3 at Kentucky Wesleyan in 2024 for the only series loss in G-MAC play.
