RECAP: The Division 1 hockey team split away games over the weekend against Northern Illinois University, with a 4-3 overtime loss on Friday (October 31) and a 5-2 win on Saturday (November 1). 

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS  

  • Northern Illinois started strong, scoring twice within the first ten minutes to take a 2–0 lead. The Huskies' goaltender faced twenty shots from the Timberwolves but managed to keep his net clean through the opening period. 

  • Donald Gooley put Northwood ahead 3–2 early in the third period with an assist from Collin Baker. However, Northern Illinois answered just four minutes later to level the score again at 3–3. 

  • The game went to overtime, where Northern Illinois netted the winner three and a half minutes in, securing a 4–3 victory.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS  

  • Northwood opened the game strong, as Colin Baker scored within the first five minutes to give the Timberwolves a 1–0 lead. 

  • Early in the second period, Chase Temple set up Cameron Duffany to double the advantage and make it 2–0. Northern Illinois pulled one back, but Temple restored the two-goal lead off an assist from Bryce Garber, putting Northwood ahead 3–1. 

  • Duffany netted his second of the night early in the third period, assisted by Baker and Owen Croston, extending the lead to 4–1. The Huskies added another midway through the period, but Donald Gooley sealed the 5–2 victory for the Timberwolves, with Colin March and Adam Moule providing the assists.
