D1 Hockey Dominates Wolverines in Weekend Wins

RECAP: The Division 1 hockey team had two wins over the weekend against the University of Michigan-Flint, with a 6-1 away win on Friday night (January 23) followed by a 12-1 home win on Saturday afternoon (January 24). 

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS  

  • The Timberwolves kept the momentum in the second period. Gooley added his second of the night on the power play, assisted by Temple and Leo Crawford, and Christian Rapp found the net with an assist from Todorovic to push the lead to 5–0. 

  • Northwood struck again early in the third period with a power play goal by Bryce Garber, assisted by Adam Moule and Bedenko. The Wolverines managed a late goal, but the Timberwolves cruised to a 6–1 victory.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS  

  • The Timberwolves blew the game open in the second period, scoring four times. McLellan found the net off assists from Cameron Duffany and Croston, Trevor Stenglein scored with help from Temple and Lukas Nies, Nies added a goal assisted by Stenglein and Todorovic, and Garber capped the period with a goal assisted by Moule and Bedenko to make it 6–0. 

  • Northwood kept pouring it on in the third period, extending the lead to 12–0. Goals came from Duffany (assisted by McCarthy and Croston), Nies (assisted by Temple and Gooley), Bedenko (assisted by Crawford and McCarthy), Duffany again (assisted by McLellan and Temple), Scheurer (assisted by McCarthy and Bedenko), and McCarthy (assisted by Gooley and Bedenko). The Wolverines scored one late, but Northwood rolled to a 12–1 victory.
