D1 Hockey Triumphs Over Oakland In Weekend Series

RECAP: The Division 1 hockey team had two wins over the weekend against Oakland University, with a 7-0 away win on Friday night (February 6) followed by a 10-1 home win on Saturday afternoon (February 7). 

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS  

  • The Timberwolves kept the pressure on in the second period, extending the lead to 6-0. Alex Bedenko scored first with an assist from Teagan Scheurer, Scheurer added a goal of his own off a Moule assist, and Collin Baker found the net with help from Stenglein and Rapp. 

  • Rapp sealed the win with his second goal of the game, assisted by Colin March and Stenglein, to take a 7-0 lead. 

  • Goaltender Peter Baldwin recorded the shutout to secure the Northwood victory.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS  

  • Northwood jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Duffany opened the scoring on a power play, assisted by Gooley and James Sigmon. Rapp added the second goal with assists from Moule and McCarthy, and Bryce Garber made it 3-0 with help from March and Bedenko. 

  • The Timberwolves kept rolling in the second period, building an 8-1 lead. Sigmon scored first, assisted by Stenglein and Duffany. Duffany added his second goal off assists from Chase Temple and Alex Blankenship, followed by a Stenglein goal assisted by Duffany and Moule. Robert Vanderdonck then set up Lukas Nies to extend the lead. After Oakland scored to make it 7-1, Northwood answered with a goal from Bedenko, assisted by Garber and Temple, to close the period. 

  • Northwood added two more goals in the third. Garber scored his second of the night with assists from Bedenko and Tegan Scheurer, and Nies added his second, assisted by Vanderdonck and Gooley, securing a 10-1 victory.
