D3 Hockey Rolls Past Aquinas In Weekend Series

RECAP: The Division 3 hockey team wins both games against Aquinas over the weekend, winning 7-1 at home on Friday evening (February 6), followed by a 5-1 win away on Saturday afternoon (February 7). 

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS 

• Northwood came out flying, building a 4-0 lead in the first period. Konnor White opened the scoring with assists from Noah Pearen and Luke Ciciretto. Boston Bennett followed with a goal assisted by Colton LaRose and Carter Remp. Sebastiano Iavasile added another, set up by Adam Dunlap and Remp, before Connor Stempky closed the period with a goal assisted by Aidan French and Remp. 

• The second period was more balanced. Pearen extended the Timberwolves' lead with help from French and Benjamin Bolen, but the Saints answered with a goal of their own to make it 5-1 heading into the second intermission. 

• Northwood pulled away in the third period. Iavasile scored again, assisted by Bolen and Cade Sanborn, and Bolen added the final goal with assists from Bennett and Stempky to secure a 7-1 victory.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS 

• The first period was a slow start, but Jerome Sciturro broke through late, finishing a setup from French to give Northwood a 1-0 lead heading into intermission. 

• The Timberwolves carried that momentum into the second period. Stempky extended the lead with assists from LaRose and Dunlap, and Iavasile added another goal off passes from Thomas Kroll and Ciciretto to make it 3-0. 

• Aquinas struck early in the third period to cut the lead to 3-1, but Northwood responded quickly. Bennett scored with assists from LaRose and Ciciretto, and LaRose added the final goal with help from Stempky and Bennett to secure a 5-1 victory.
