The Northwood University baseball team dropped a 6-0 contest at Grand Valley State Tuesday afternoon (April 16).
Northwood falls to 12-16 overall, 7-10 in the GLIAC. Grand Valley improves to 18-12 overall, 12-5 in the GLIAC.
All of the scoring in the game took place in the second and third innings. GVSU plated two in the second and four in the third to take the early advantage. Northwood managed just three singles in the game.
Jake Oard (Beaverton, Mich.) went 2-4 from the plate to lead the Northwood offense. The trio of Jordan Schwellenbach (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage), Sean Cunningham (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills) and Adam Kroll (Marine City, Mich.) combined to toss five shutout innings in relief.
Northwood will host Hillsdale Wednesday afternoon (April 17). The two teams will resume their suspended game from April 8 at 1 p.m. Hillsdale leads that game 1-0 heading into the bottom of the second. The two teams will then play a nine-inning game at the conclusion of game one.
