Baseball Drops 3-1 Contest To Rochester
MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University baseball team dropped a 3-1 contest to Rochester Tuesday afternoon (March 24).
The game was the home opener for the Timberwolves. Northwood is now 8-11 overall. Rochester improves to 8-5.
Neither team scored in the opening four innings. Rochester broke through with single runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings to open up a 3-0 lead. The Timberwolves got on the board in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Wayne Moak (Marysville, Mich.) which plated Dustin Lee (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.). Northwood got the leadoff runner in the ninth inning but was unable to score.
Rochester finished the game with a 7-6 edge in hits. Northwood had six singles in the game and left seven runners on base.
Dylan Trimarchi (Pasadena, Calif./Glendale CC) had two hits to lead the NU offense. Shawn Larner (Gladwin, Mich./Alma College) pitched well in relief. He allowed one unearned run in three innings of work.
Northwood will travel to Findlay Saturday (March 28). The doubleheader gets under way at 1 p.m.
