Baseball Drops 8-5 Contest To Davenport In GLIAC Tournament Elimination Game

RECAP: Northwood Baseball mounts a comeback but falls short in an 8-5 loss to Davenport in a GLIAC Tournament elimination game Saturday (May 14).
GAME HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)
- Northwood got a leadoff single from Jacob Rybicki to start the game but did not register another hit until the top of the sixth inning.
- Davenport got going in the second, scoring three runs for the early lead.
- The Panthers added three in the fourth and two more in the fifth to open up an 8-0 lead.
- Northwood got one back in the top of the sixth on an RBI groundout by Khale Showers to plate Rybicki to get the Timberwolves on the board.
- NU added on in the top of the seventh thanks to a long home run by Blake Solomon to left center to make the score 8-3.
- The Timberwolves continued to chip away at the Davenport advantage in the eighth, starting with a Rhett Evans RBI double to left center.
- Myles Beale followed with an RBI groundout to get the Timberwolves within three at 8-5.
- The Panthers nearly added a run in the bottom of the eighth, but a great throw from Beale on a flyout nabbed the DU runner at the plate to keep the score 8-5 heading to the final inning.
- NU was unable to get anything going in the ninth, giving the Panthers the victory.
