  • Northwood started the game fast, starting with an RBI single from Drew Charters in the bottom of the first.
  • Alex Jarboe doubled home another run, which was followed by a Brendan Hammer RBI groundout that made the score 3-0 after one.
  • Caden Duryea extended the advantage with an RBI single in the second.
  • The Timberwolves offense kept rolling in the third, which got going with an RBI single from Hammer that put NU on top 5-0
  • Ben Narr plated a run on a groundout, which was followed by Hammer coming home on a wild pitch.

  • In the fifth, DeVries made it 9-0 with a triple.

  • Sager is the first Northwood starting pitcher to toss a complete game no-hitter since the 2019 season. Max Bain no-hit Parkside 4-0 April 6, 2019. The Northwood duo of Derek Clark and Tyler Frankhouse threw a combined no-hitter February 28, 2021.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • Northwood got on the board in the first inning with an RBI infield single by Jarboe.
  • The Timberwolves executed a double steal in the second that saw Voth come home to make it 2-0.
  • The Storm put their first run of the day on the board in the third inning to cut the lead to 2-1.
  • Jarboe came through with one of the key hits of the day, a three-run homer in the third that put the Timberwolves on top 5-1.
  • Lake Erie got one back in the top of the fifth to get within three at 5-2.
  • NU broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth, starting with a Narr RBI single.
  • DeVries, who hit for the cycle over the two games of the doubleheader, had a run-scoring double that made the score 7-2.
  • Narr came on a wild pitch, which was followed by a sacrifice fly from Beale that pushed the lead to 9-2.
  • Duryea capped the five-run sixth with an RBI single.
  • The Timberwolves offense kept the momentum going into the sixth, which got going on a DeVries three-run homer that made the score 13-2.
  • A Duryea RBI double followed to out NU on top by 12.
  • Aidan Robinson had a sac fly, which was followed by a Spencer Fortier RBI single to round out the scoring at 16-2.
