Baseball Earns Numerous Preseason Rankings
MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University baseball team has been ranked in a variety of locations heading into the 2026 season.
The Timberwolves have been ranked No. 20 in the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Preseason Coaches Poll. The Timberwolves are the highest ranked team in the Midwest Region in the poll.
On NCAA.com, writer Wayne Cavadi placed the Timberwolves as his No. 8 ranked team in his preseason Division II power rankings. Northwood is the highest ranked Midwest team in Cavadi's rankings as well.
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released their preseason Midwest Regional rankings. The Timberwolves were ranked first in the poll, ahead of Grand Valley State, Indianapolis and Davenport. In addition, the Timberwolves placed three players on the NCBWA Preseason All-Midwest Region team. Senior outfielder Caden Duryea, senior starting pitcher Tyler Sager and senior relief pitcher Cody Matuz were all honored.
Last week, D2Baseball.com ranked the Timberwolves No. 7 in their preseason poll.
Northwood is coming off its first Midwest Regional Championship and first appearance in the Division II World Series in program history. The Timberwolves finished the season 40-22 overall, 25-7 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. Northwood took home the Great Midwest regular season and tournament championships.
