Football Drops Tough 14-13 Contest To Hillsdale

INSIDE THE GAME

• Northwood controlled the early portion of the game, getting on the board first after the NU defense forced a three-and-out. Max Gonos capped a 27-yard drive with a 32-yard field goal to put the Timberwolves up 3-0.
• NU later had a chance to extend the lead, holding the ball at the Hillsdale 10 on first and goal. But a lost fumble ended that drive, giving the ball back to the Chargers.
• Hillsdale used that momentum in the second quarter to score a pair of touchdowns, one at the 10:25 mark and the other at 3:02. That made the score 14-3.
• The Timberwolves capped the half with a Gonos 32-yard field goal with two seconds remaining that mad the halftime score 14-6.
• Northwood came out fast in the second half, taking the ball to start the third and marching down the field. NU went 75-yards in 10 plays. Quarterback Jacob Barlage finished the drive with a one-yard run to make the score 14-13.
• That proved to the be final points of the day, however. Northwood moved the ball on a pair drives but were unable to take the lead.
• Northwood's final chance ended at their own 43-yard line on an incomplete pass.
• Hillsdale gained the one first down they needed to run out the clock, giving the Chargers the win.
