DANCING! Northwood Football Returns To NCAA Division II Championship

NCAA DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD ANNOUCEMENT

MIDLAND, MICH. – For the first time since 2006, the Northwood University football team has earned a trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

The announcement was made by the NCAA on Sunday night (November 16).

There are four super regionals in Division II, with eight teams from each region filling out the 32-team field. The top four teams in each region host the bottom four teams in each region. Northwood competes in Super Region 3.

Northwood will travel to top-seeded Ferris State for the opening round game. That contest will take place Saturday (November 22) at 1 p.m. The winner of that game will take on the winner of the contest between No. 4 seed Ashland and Minnesota-Duluth.

Northwood finished the regular season with a 9-2 overall record while going 7-2 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Northwood's nine wins are the most for the program since the 2005 team went 10-2. The Timberwolves' last appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2006 capped a stretch where the Timberwolves made the event three consecutive years.
