MIDLAND, MICH. - The Northwood University men's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the South Division of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, which the league released Wednesday (October 24).
Voting was done by the head coaches of the 12 teams around the GLIAC.
This will be the first time since the 2009-10 season that Northwood will be in the South Division.
Ashland was picked to win the South Division with 60 points, followed by Grand Valley State at 51 points. Ferris State was picked to win the North Division with 58 points, followed by Northern Michigan at 47 points.
In addition, Northwood junior guard Trey McBride was named to the GLIAC Preseason All-Conference South Division team. He led Northwood in scoring a year ago (12.3 ppg) while earning Second Team All-GLIAC as well as All-GLIAC Defensive team honors.
Northwood will opens its season with an exhibition game against Western Michigan Saturday (October 27). NU will open its season vs. Indianapolis November 9 in a neutral site matchup at Saginaw Valley.
