Men's Basketball Wins Overtime Thriller 88-87 Over Findlay

RECAP: Northwood men's basketball earns a thrilling 88-87 overtime win over Findlay Thursday (February 12).

GAME STORY

• Findlay came out strong to start the game, going up 16-5 with 14:06 remaining in the first half.
• Northwood came back to get within three at 30-27, only to see the lead go right back up to seven at 34-27.
• The Timberwolves continued to chip away at the lead, finally going on top for the first time in the game at 36-35 with 1:59 remaining.
• Despite trailing for nearly 17 minutes of the first half, Northwood held a 40-37 lead at halftime.
• The second half was close throughout – both teams led by five points in the half, which was the largest advantage of the period.
• Findlay led 80-75 with 1:30 remaining when the Oilers missed an open 3-point attempt that would have put them up eight points. After the miss, the Timberwolves responded with a Will Young II triple to cut the lead to 80-78.
• UF had the ball with 14 seconds remaining in the front court when the Oilers turned it over. That led to a transition layup from Northwood that tied the game and forced overtime with the score 80-80.
• It took more than two minutes for either side to score in overtime. After Findlay made a triple to go up three, Northwood scored four straight to go up 84-83.
• The teams exchanged baskets until Young connected on a jumper that put the Timberwolves on top 88-87.
• Findlay had a chance to win in the closing seconds but were unable to convert, giving Northwood the victory.
