The 2018-19 season will be Lonnie Griffin's fifth as an assistant coach at Northwood under Jeff Rekeweg. After spending a pair of seasons as a part-time coach, Griffin was promoted to a full-time assistant for the 2016-17 season.
This is Griffin's second stint at Northwood, as he was an assistant coach at Northwood 2004-05 season.
Griffin has a wealth of coaching experience at the collegiate level. He spent the previous four seasons as the head coach at Delta College. He led the Pioneers to two district semifinals and one district final. Griffin coached Jody Hill to NJCAA All-American honors and A.J. Thomas to the MCCAA Freshman of the Year award.
Griffin also spent time coaching at Central Michigan, Alma College and Grand Valley State. He was a part of the 2005-06 season at GVSU when the Lakers went 27-4 en route to a GLIAC North Division Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. He was a part of the MAC West Championship team in 2009-10 at CMU.
Griffin is a native of Shepherd and a 2001 graduate of Eastern Michigan. He and his wife, Stefanie, have two children: Alivia and LJ.
