Men's Golf Places 11th At The Fourth NCAA Regional Tournament
The Northwood University men's golf team placed 11th at the Purgatory Regional Sunday and Monday (April 7-8).
The event was held at the Pugatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana. The course played as a 7,146 yard, par 72.
Northwood shot team scores of 294 and 302 to finish at 595 in the extremely competitive field. Missouri-St. Louis was the overall winner at 579, followed by Maryville at 585. The difference between fourth place and 12th place was just seven shots. A total of 31 teams took part in the tournament.
Leading the way for Northwood was senior Blair Turner (Midland, Mich.). He shot a career-low opening round of three-under par 69 to open the event. Turner then carded a 74 in round two to finish with a one-under par total of 143, good for a tie for third place overall. He was one shot out of earning a share of medalist honors. Bruce Eccleton (Saginaw, Mich./Mott CC) shot 75-74 to tie for 42nd overall.
Northwood will compete at the GLIAC South Tournament April 20-21.
