Men's Golf Places Fifth At ODU Kickoff Classic

RECAP: Northwood opened their 2016-17 season by placing fifth out of 12 teams at the ODU Kickoff Classic, hosted by Ohio Dominican University.

INSIDE THE EVENT

• Playing 36-holes in one day on a warm, muggy day in Columbus, Northwood shot team scores of 306 and 303 to finish with a team total of 609 (+15)
• Indianapolis was the overall winner at 583 (295-288)
• Just four strokes separated the next four teams (Wayne State – 605, Findlay, 605, Otterbien – 608, Northwood – 609)

TOP NU PERFORMERS

• Matt Garland (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview): 73-74=147. Tied for fourth overall
• Kory Roberts (Battle Creek, Mich. / Lakeview): 81-73=154. Tied for 22^nd overall
• A total of 98 players competed in the event.

NORTHWOOD NOTES

• Playing in the Northwood lineup for the first time in his career, Cameron Lippoldt (Midland, Mich.) had a hole-in-one on the 184-yard par-3 17th in the opening round. Lippoldt finished the tournament with a total of 155 (78-77), which was good for a tie for 27th.
