Dave Turner has been a maintstay on the staff of Northwood University. The 2020-21 season will be his 23rd season as the head coach of the men's golf program and his 19th season as coach of the women's program. He has turned the men's and women's programs into some of the best in the Midwest Region.
He has guided the men's team to nine appearances in the NCAA Super Regional. Turner's 2002 team earned Northwood its first GLIAC Championship in program history, led by individual champion Justin Holyszko. For his efforts that season, Turner was named GLIAC Coach of the Year. NU has also had a total of 12 Academic Scholar All-Americans during his tenure.
On the women's side, Turner's 2005 team earned a bid into the NCAA Regional - the first in program history. He coached Jamie Long to the individual title at the GLIAC Championship in 2006 - her one-over par total over 54 holes was the lowest in relation in par in tournament history. The women's program has also earned a bid to the NCAA Super Regional in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019. The 2019 team also featured Sydni Harding, who became the second player in school history (Long) to reach the NCAA Championships.
Turner and his wife Barb reside in Midland. They have two children - Jenna and Blair.
