25 Years In The Making - Northwood Men's Lacrosse Sets 2025 Season Schedule
MIDLAND, MICH. – The 2025 Northwood men's lacrosse schedule is set, the team announced Wednesday (December 4). The men's lacrosse program is set to start its first NCAA DII schedule since 2000.
After a 25-year hiatus, Northwood men's lacrosse will begin playing on February 11 at Quincy. The Timberwolves are set for a 13-game slate with nine away and four home matches. Home matches for 2025 will be played in Hantz Stadium. This schedule contains nine conference games and four non-conference slates beginning with Quincy.
The 2025 schedule begins with three games away from Midland, starting with Quincy before a weekend trip to Missouri to take on Rockhurst (February 22) and William Jewell (February 25). The trio of teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) are in the South Region, and Northwood represents the North region. NCAA DII men's lacrosse landscape is comprised of two regions, North and South, giving you a 16-team NCAA Tournament (eight teams from each region).
Following their first three games, the Timberwolves open conference play with their home opener versus Thomas More (March 1). They then hit the road to play at Walsh (March 8) and at non-con Lewis on March 11 before returning to Midland to face Tiffin on March 18.
Northwood starts the second half of the season with road trips to Malone (March 22) and Lake Erie (March 25) before hosting two, Wheeling (March 29) and 2024 conference runner-up Seton Hill (April 12). They finish the regular season with Davis & Elkins (April 19) and Davenport (April 22).
WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Head Coach Jake Fredal is excited to finally get the competitive season going. Fredal said fans can look forward to Northwood's team looking to control the pace and dictate possession. He believes freshmen Andrew Rogers, Drew Lockwood, Luke VanGorp, Niko Dilbone, Ryder Mulvey, and Dylan Ayotte can help them do that. The Timberwolves are made up of 21 freshmen, 11 sophomores, one junior, and just two seniors. Fredal believes although youthful; the team builds its identity on discipline and preparation.
The top six teams in the conference will vie for the 2025 Great Midwest Men's Lacrosse Championship, beginning with a quarterfinal round on April 27. Two semifinal matchups will be contested on Wednesday, April 30, with the higher seed serving as the host site. Winners will advance to Saturday's G-MAC championship final on May 3.
