Men's Soccer Falls To Lake Erie 1-0 in OT

The Northwood University men's soccer team play their second straight match into extra time falling to Lake Erie 1-0 in OT this afternoon (October 20).

The first half ended with both teams controlling possession rather equally. Northwood was able to put the pressure on Lake Erie's keeper forcing him to save four of NU's ten shots taken. Each squad had an impressive scoring opportunity; however the respective goalkeepers were able to keep the scoreboard empty going into halftime.

Game play was very similar in the second half, with the Timberwolves responsible for the lone shot on goal by James DeCosemo (Stokesley, England) at 75:36. Lake Erie registered the only two corner kicks for the half as NU held the advantage in shots at 7-3. Neither team was able to capitalize sending the match to OT.

Northwood registered three shots in overtime, but the only one that mattered came off the foot of freshman Nolyn Do Nascimento of Lake Erie at 96:48. Do Nascimento netted the lone goal of the game off a cross just outside the six. The Timberwolves were the better team for a majority of the match, tallying 20 shots to Lake Erie's five.

The Timberwolves final home game of the season will be November 2 against Tiffin. Match time is set for 2:30 p.m. They will travel  to Ohio to take on Ohio Dominican on Friday (October 25) with a start time of 7 p.m.
