Soccer Teams To Compete In GLIAC Tournament

The Northwood University soccer teams have both qualified for the post season and will compete in the 2013 GLIAC Tournament on Tuesday (October 5).

The Men finished the season 5-9-1 and 5-8-1 in the GLIAC to rank fifth. This has aligned the Timberwolves to travel to Lake Erie in the first round of the Tournament. Lake Erie has ended their season just above NU, ranking fourth, with a 7-7-2 overall and 6-7-1 conference record. Northwood has played Lake Erie twice this season, sending both contests into an overtime period. Lake Erie came out ahead on each occasion, defeating Northwood 1-0. Tuesday's match at Lake Erie is set to begin at 2 p.m.

Finishing with a regular season record of 6-9-1 (5-7 GLIAC) has ranked the women's team eighth in GLIAC standings. The Timberwolves will travel to Grand Valley State on Tuesday for the first round of Tournament play. Grand Valley is undefeated in the conference this season, including a 5-0 win over the Timberwolves back in September. The women hope to carry their momentum, winning three of the last five games, into post season play. Tuesday's match at Grand Valley is set to begin at 4 p.m.
