Bio

Spencer Sandow joined the Northwood men’s soccer coaching staff in the summer of 2020.

The soccer coach's experience and abilities earned him a spot in the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program for 2022-23. A program that is a year-long education and mentorship opportunity designed to support up-and-coming members of the coaching profession who are 30 years of age or younger. Sandow was one of 30 individuals selected from a pool of over 250 applicants.

Sandow came to Northwood after spending a season at Spring Arbor, which won the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference and reached the NAIA sweet 16. Prior to that, he coached at Alma College and Lakeland University (Wisc.).

A Midland native and Midland High School graduate, Sandow also has been actively coaching at the club level in his hometown. He has spent time as the head coach of the Midland 04 Boys Green team as well as an assistant coach for various other club teams.

Sandow played at Alma college for three seasons, scoring 11 goals in his career. He netted six goals in his senior season, earning First Team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association honors.

In 2012, Sandow started his collegiate career by playing one season at Northwood. He appeared in 16 games that season, scoring one goal while making three starts.

A 2016 graduate of Alma, Sandow earned his degree in Management. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Lakeland in 2018. He also currently serves as the head coach of the Midland Dow Girls Soccer team. The Chargers picked up a District Championship in his first season as head coach, the first for the team since 2015. During the 2022 season, Dow High won the Saginaw Valley Athletic conference league title for the first time since 2014.
