G-MAC CHAMPS!! Men's Tennis Earns Dramatic 4-3 Win Over No. 20 Tiffin To Take Title

RECAP: The No. 42 Northwood men's tennis team claimed the 2026 Great Midwest Athletic Conference championship with a dramatic 4-3 victory over No. 20 Tiffin Saturday (April 25).
INSIDE THE MATCH
- In a match that played out in a strikingly similar way to the regular season match, Northwood was the better team in singles. All three matches were closely-contested, but the Timberwolves earned a 6-4 win at the No. 3 position and a 7-6 victory at the No. 1 slot to take the doubles point. The number two match, which was halted when the doubles point was decided, was tied at 5-5.
- Northwood picked up straight-set wins at No. 3 and No. 5, while Tiffin earn wins in straight-sets at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 6 singles to make the score 3-3.
- The championship came down to the match at the second position between Northwood's Andrey Pikulin and Tiffin's Martin Driesner.
- Driesner took the first set 6-3 and got into a tiebreaker in set two, which was won by Pikulin 7-2 to force a deciding final set.
- The third set featured service breaks on both sides, but it was Pikulin who earned the final game to take the set 6-4 and give the Timberwolves the championship.

NORTHWOOD NOTES
- This is Northwood's first tournament title since winning the GLIAC crown in 2015.
