Cross Country Teams Compete At Michigan Intercollegiates
The Northwood University cross country teams competed at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships Friday night (October 5).
No team scoring was taken at the event, which was hosted by Calvin College.
The men's team placed fourth overall in the D2/D2/NAIA event with 162 points. Grand Valley State was the overall winner with 20 points, followed by Calvin at 73. Leading the way for the Timberwolves was freshman Enock Rono (Eldoret, Kenya). He placed 11th overall with a time of 25:08.4 in the 8K race. Marcus Rogers (Howell, Mich./Pinckney) clocked a 25:35.9 to place 27th overall. A total of 190 runners took part in the event.
On the women's side, the Timberwolves finished seventh overall with 219 points. Grand Valley State was the overall winner with 19 points, followed by Calvin with 74. Jenny Frantz (Midland, Mich.) was the top finisher for the Timberwolves, placing 16th overall with a time of 18:08.7 on the 5K course. Danielle Miller (Clinton Twp., Mich./Fraser) ran an 18:20.8 to place 24th overall. A total of 183 competitors ran in the race.
The Timberwolves will host the GLIAC Championships October 20.
