Men's Cross Country Leaps Back To No. 28 In USTFCCCA National Poll

NEW ORLEANS, LA. - The Northwood men's cross-country team landed at No. 28 in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Men's Cross-Country rankings. The USTFCCCA rankings were released Wednesday (Oct. 26) with No. 28 Northwood and No. 12 Walsh being the only Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) teams appearing on the list.
This is the third time this season Northwood has appeared in USTFCCCA national rankings. The 28th-ranked team also moved up to sixth in the Midwest region ahead of foes No. 9 Wayne State and No. 10 Cedarville.
The Timberwolves team victory at the Warrior Challenge this past weekend (October 22) showed that they can compete with the best. NU's 59 points defeated midwest foes and at the time nationally ranked No. 21 Michigan Tech, No. 23 Saginaw Valley State, No. 27 Parkside, No. 29 Wayne State (Mich.), and Division I, Toledo.
2021 NCAA National Qualifier Zane Aldrich (25:31.40) ran his best race of the season, finishing 10th and being one of two Timberwolves to finish in the top 10 along with Dillan Haviland (25:05.10) who finished second.
Five blue and white runners finish within the top 25 to help with an average time of 25:33 for Northwood's top five runners.
Northwood will gear up for the Great Midwest Cross Country Championships on November 5 in Findlay, Ohio.
