Stacey Klonowski Named To The CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team

Stacey Klonowski (Canton, Mich./Plymouth), a senior on the Northwood University softball team, has earned First Team Capital One Academic All-District honors.

Members of the All-District teams will now be on the national ballot to determine who earns Academic All-America honors. There are eight districts around the country.

It is the second consecutive season Klonowski has earned the honor. Last year, Klonowski went on to earn Second Team Academic All-America honors.

Klonowski will go down as arguably the finest all-around player in Northwood history. Entering this weekend's GLIAC Tournament, Klonowski is already NU's all-time leader in home runs (28) and doubles (47). She also ranks second in school history in total bases (347) and hits (210) while ranking third in RBIs (119) and batting average (.368). This season, Klonowski ranks in the top-10 in the GLIAC in doubles, triples, home runs, RBIs, total bases and slugging percentage. She also is a standout defensively at shortstop, where she ranks seventh in the conference in assists (86) and has not made an error in her last 18 games.

Northwood (26-14) is the No. 5 seed in this weekend's GLIAC Tournament. The Timberwolves will open the double-elimination event with a game against fourth-seeded Grand Valley State (27-10). The Timberwolves are also ranked seventh in the latest Great Lakes regional poll, with the top eight teams qualifying for the NCAA Tournament next week.
