Softball Stays Put At No. 10 In Midwest Regional Rankings
MIDLAND, MICH. - The Northwood softball team (32-18, 17-9 G-MAC) was listed as No. 10 in the second set of 2024 NCAA DII Midwest Regional Rankings released Wednesday (April 24).
Northwood is one of four Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) teams in the NCAA rankings. Trevecca Nazarene (41-11) came in No. 2, Ohio Dominican (33-11) No. 3, and Hillsdale (34-12) No. 5. GLIAC members Grand Valley St. (33-14), Purdue Northwest (30-20), and Saginaw Valley St. (30-19) come in just ahead of Northwood at No. 6, 7, and 8.
The Timberwolves continue the postseason run in the conference tournament Thursday (May 2). No. 4 Northwood is set to play No. 1 Trevecca Nazarene in the second round of the G-MAC Tournament at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio at 12:30 p.m.
64 teams will qualify for this year's NCAA Tournament, with the top eight teams from the Midwest Region earning a berth. Postseason action of the NCAA tournament will begin May 9-11 with the first round on 16 different campuses across the United States.
Four teams will participate at each of the 16 regional sites in a double-elimination tournament. The 16 teams advancing from regional competition will participate in a two-team, best-of-three super regional at eight sites.
The NCAA selection show is set for Monday, May 6 at 10 AM ET on NCAA.com.
