Softball Appears At No. 9 In Initial NCAA Regional Rankings

FULL NCAA DII SOFTBALL REGIONAL RANKINGS

MIDLAND, MICH. - The Northwood softball team (24-16, 14-6 G-MAC) was ranked No. 9 for the 2025 NCAA DII Softball Tournament in the NCAA's first set of Midwest Regional Rankings released Wednesday (April 23).

Northwood was ninth in the rankings, with nationally ranked No. 24 Saginaw Valley State taking the top spot. Northwood was one of four G-MAC members in the rankings; No. 18 Tiffin was ranked second, Findlay third, and Hillsdale fourth. 64 teams will qualify for this year's NCAA Tournament, with the top eight teams from the Midwest Region earning a berth. 

Postseason action of the NCAA tournament will begin on May 8-10, with the first round regionals on 16 different campuses across the United States. Four teams will participate at each regional site in a double-elimination tournament. The 16 teams advancing from regional competition will participate in a two-team, best-of-three super regional at eight sites.

The next set of NCAA Regional Rankings is set to be posted Wednesday, April 30, with the NCAA selection show set for Monday, May 5, at 10 a.m. ET on NCAA.com. 

UP NEXT

Northwood softball is back on Saturday to start their final weekend of G-MAC play. They face Cedarville at Lady Jacket Field in Cedarville, Ohio. The doubleheader is set to start at noon with game two to follow.
