Ziel Takes Home G-MAC Offensive Player Of The Week
MIDLAND, MICH. – Northwood University softball player Ashley Ziel has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week on Monday (March 9).
Ziel led the Timberwolves at the plate during Northwood's six-game opening trip in Florida, batting .500 (10-for-20) with eight RBIs, two doubles, and a home run to help the team to three victories. She also posted a .545 on-base percentage with two walks while finishing the week with a team-best 10 hits.
Her three-run home run against Southwest Minnesota State (March 5) moved her into a tie for fifth in program history with 18 career home runs, matching Julia Gross (2017–21). Ziel also surpassed the 100 career RBI mark during the week, becoming just the ninth player in program history to reach the milestone.
Ziel is the first Northwood softball player to earn Great Midwest weekly honors this season.
The Timberwolves continue their Florida trip Tuesday (March 10), taking on St. Martin's (Wash.) at 12:30 p.m. before facing Cal (Pa.) at 3 p.m. at the Miss Bartow Softball Complex.
