OVERVIEW – GOLDEN GRIZZLIES INVITE

LOCATION: Oakland – Rochester, Mich.

RECAP: Northwood men's and women's track & field competed at the Golden Grizzlies invite on Saturday (April 5).

INSIDE THE MEET

FOR THE MEN

  • Will Nemecek placed second with a throw of 17.02m during the men's shot put. He cleared the NCAA Provisional mark in the process.
  • Diogo Vaz had a stellar outing, claiming first place with an impressive 49.18 PR during the 400m heat. He moves into tenth all-time for the 400m race in NU history.
  • Michael Cook led the charge in the 400m hurdles, claiming first with a 56.24 finish.
  • Carson Daniel took fifth in the 200m race, finishing with a 22.45 PR.
  • Omari Hairston's 42.18m discus toss earned him an eighth place finish.
  • In the hammer throw, Chris Whitehead threw 48.57m, finishing second. Lucus Schumaker threw 44.38m, finishing eighth. Nemecek threw 44.03m, finishing ninth.
  • The men's 4x400m relay team (Andrew Braman, Vaz, Daniel, Cook) won with a time of 3:21.24. This was the 87th-best mark in DII this season.

 FOR THE WOMEN

  • Kelsey Hansen set PRs in both the women's discus and hammer throw events, winning both. She hit 43.88m during discus which is 44th in DII this season as well as 51.34m in hammer throw which is 42nd in DII this season. She also placed second in the shot put with a toss of 13.19m
  • Vivian Williams was just off all-time Northwood's top-10 for the women's 100m dash, finishing in 12.84. She took 17th overall during the event.
  • Keiyera Johnson and Jenna Gaul represented Northwood in the 400m hurdles. Johnson took seventh at 1:12.02 and Gaul 10th at 1:14.27 during the event.
  • Nava Sanocki and Brooklyn Wolcott ran strong races in heat two of the women's 400m, finishing 14th and 15th overall with times of 1:02.30 and 1:02.49, respectively.
