Jayla Strickland Named G-MAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week
MIDLAND, MICH. – Senior Jayla Strickland has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Athlete of the Week Monday (November 13).
This marks the first time in her career that Strickland has taken home a weekly award.
Strickland averaged 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game in a pair of Northwood wins. She was 16-22 from the floor (72.7 percent) and 10-13 from the foul line (76.9 percent). She scored a career-high 24 points in Northwood's win over Saginaw Valley while going 11-13 from the floor. Strickland then put up 18 points while going 5-9 from the floor and 8-10 from the foul line in the Timberwolves' overtime win against Lake Superior State.
Northwood will host their home opener Wednesday (November 15). Game time is set for 6 p.m.
