Maddie Voelker Named Great Midwest Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week
MIDLAND, MICH. – Maddie Voelker, a senior on the Northwood University women's basketball team, has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week Monday (January 6).
Voelker led Northwood to a pair of wins while reaching the 1,000-point milestone last week while averaging 23.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. She was highly efficient on offense, shooting 62.5 percent from the floor (15-24), 63.6 percent from 3-point range (7-11) and 90.0 percent from the foul line (9-10). She reached 1,000 points on a career day, scoring a personal-best 30 points in a 98-74 win over Lake Erie. She went 10-14 from the floor and 3-4 from 3-point range against the Storm. Then against Thomas More, she overcame a slow start to finish with 16 points while going 5-10 from the floor and 4-7 from 3-point range.
Northwood will travel to Ohio Dominican Thursday (January 9). Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
