Autumn Hunter Coach of the Year, Maeve St. John Player of the Year in G-MAC Women's Basketball Awards

25-26 G-MAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL AWARDS

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University women's basketball team earned a number of honors from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Friday afternoon (March 6), as the league announced its annual All-Conference awards.

Autumn Hunter earned G-MAC Coach of the Year honors for the second consecutive year. Senior point guard Maeve St. John was named the G-MAC Player of the Year as well as First Team All-Great Midwest. Sophomore center Lea Holmes also earned First Team All-Great Midwest honors, while junior guard Lexie Bowers was named Second team All-Great Midwest.

Haggadone is the first women's basketball coach in program history to earn conference Coach of the Year honors for two consecutive years. She is the second women's basketball coach at Northwood to earn conference Coach of the Year honors from a conference, joining Jeff Curtis from the 2007-08 season. Hunter has led Northwood to its first outright regular championship this season, currently standing at 24-5 overall. The Timberwolves have set school records for overall wins, conference wins (19) and longest winning streak (14).  

St. John is the first women's basketball player in program history to earn a conference Player of the Year. This is the second straight season she has earned First Team All-Great Midwest. St. John currently is averaging 19.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.6 steals per game. She has set numerous school records this season, including points in a season (552), free throws made in a season (162), steals in a season (105) and steals in a career (284). A four-time G-MAC Player of the Week this season, St. John has scored at least 32 points five times in 2025-26. St. John current ranks in the top-10 nationally in steals, steals per game, free throws made and free throw percentage (90.0).

This is the second consecutive season Holmes has earned First Team All-Great Midwest honors. She is currently averaging 16.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting 57.0 percent from the floor. Holmes ranks fourth in the G-MAC in scoring, seventh in rebounding, second in field goal percentage and second in blocked shots. She has set a Northwood school record this season for field goals made (201) and is tied for the career record in blocked shots (124).

St. John posted a breakthrough junior season at Northwood. After spending the first two seasons of her career coming of the bench, she has blossomed into one of the best point guards in Division II.  She ranks eighth in the G-MAC in scoring (14.1 points per game) while leading the lead in both assists (5.9 per game) and steals (2.6 per game). St. John has 58 more assists and 13 more steals than any other player in the conference. On the single season list at Northwood, St. John ranks second in steals (70) and third in assists (159).

Bowers has made her junior season her best at Northwood, currently averaging 8.7 points per game. She stands fifth in the G-MAC in 3-point field goals made per game at 2.0. Her seven triples made against Kentucky Weslyean are tied for the most for an individual player in the conference this season. Bowers knocked down at least four 3-pointers six times this season.

Northwood, the top seed in the G-MAC Tournament, takes on No. 4 seed Walsh Friday night (March 6). Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
