Women's Basketball Ranks 12th In WBCA Academic Division II Top 25 Team Honor Roll

ATLANTA, GA. - The Northwood University women's basketball team was placed on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Tuesday (July 21).

This marks the 10th time Northwood has earned a top-25 academic ranking (2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2013-14, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2018-19, 2021-22, 2025-26).

Northwood ended the year with a 3.772 GPA, which was good for 12th out of 290 Division II schools. That marks the highest single-season GPA in program history. The Timberwolves were the highest ranked team in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and the Midwest region.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes college women's basketball teams across the nation in their respective divisions that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. A team must have a combined GPA of 3.0 or better and be nominated by its head coach who must be a member of the WBCA to be recognized. The 2025-26 season is the 31st in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.

Northwood (28-6) set school-records for wins in a season, conference wins in a season (19) and longest winning streak (18). The Timberwolves reached the Midwest regional final before falling to top-ranked Grand Valley State. Northwood ended the year ranked No. 9 nationally in KPI, the primary ranking system used to determine the NCAA Tournament field.
