Women's Golf Places Fifth At The Michael Corbett Fall Classic

The Northwood University women's golf team opened their 2012-13 season by placing fifth at the Michael Corbett Fall Classic Monday afternoon (September 17).

The two-day, 36-hole event was held at the Peek'n Peak Golf Resort and hosted by Gannon University. The course played as a 5,810 yard, par 72.

Northwood shot team scores of 339 and 335 to finish at 674 overall. Findlay was the overall winner at 632, followed by Wheeling Jesuit at 640. A total of 12 teams competed at the event.

Leading the way for the Timberwolves was senior Brittany Davidson (Mississauga, Ont.). She carded rounds of 76 and 85 to finish at 161 overall, good for a tie for sixth. Freshman Katelyn Sakkinen (Highland, Mich./Milford) tied for 18th at 168 (85-83). A total of 79 players took part in the tournament.

Northwood will return to action Sept. 23-24 at the Lake Erie Invitational.
