COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Northwood University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest at Ohio Dominican Friday night (September 26).
Northwood falls to 1-4-1 overall, 0-2 in the GLIAC. Ohio Dominican improves to 5-2-0 overall, 2-0 in the GLIAC.
Ohio Dominican scored the lone goal of the contest in the 23rd minute. The Panthers did control the ball for the majority of the first half, out-shooting the Timberwolves 10-1 in the opening 45 minutes. Both teams had a pair of corner kicks in the half.
Northwood did generate more offense in the second half, registering three shots compared to nine for ODU. But the Timberwolves were unable to find net, giving the Panthers a 1-0 win.
For the match, Ohio Dominican finished with a 19-4 advantage in shots. The Panthers also held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Keeper Julie Shields (Berkley, Mich.) made nine saves in 10 shots on goal in the game for the Timberwolves.
Northwood will travel to Walsh Sunday (September 28). That match begins at 1 p.m.
