Women's Soccer Gets Set To Host First Conference Tournament Match In School History

GMAC Women's Soccer Championship Central

MIDLAND, MICH. - The Northwood women's soccer team will make history Saturday (October 29). Women's soccer will host their first conference tournament match in school history as they earned the No. 3 seed in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) Women's Soccer Tournament.

Northwood (10-4-4, 9-2-3 GMAC) will play the No. 6 seed, Walsh (8-6-3, 6-5-3 GMAC), at Dean Field at 12 PM in the quarterfinals. The winner of this match will advance to play the No. 2 seeded Ashland Eagles at No. 1 seeded Cedarville on Thursday (November 3).

Both teams met once this year, back on October 1 in Midland, with Northwood coming out with the victory, 2-0. Forward Brooke Honeycutt scored a brace to give NU the 2-0 advantage. During the match, NU's defense would force the Cavaliers to manage any shots they could as they held them to just eight shots.

Finishing as the three seed means much more history for the Timberwolves, this is their highest finish in regular season conference history and is their first back-to-back ten-win season ever.

Ticket prices are $7 a person, and students get in free with a valid ID.

Northwood students are also eligible to win a free Woody mascot bobblehead with a valid Northwood ID. Tickets for the Woody bobblehead giveaway will be available to pick up at the ticket office before the game at 11:30 AM.
