Fowler, Honeycutt, Boyd, and Wallace Highlight Women's Soccer On All-Conference Teams

GMAC Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams

MIDLAND, MICH. – Four members of the Timberwolves women's soccer team earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) All-Conference accolades Thursday (November 3). The team was represented by senior forward Abbie Fowler (Midland, Mich.) and junior forward Brooke Honeycutt (Trenton, Mich.) earning first-team honors, while senior defender Savannah Wallace (Saginaw, Mich.) and freshman forward Carly Boyd (Oxford, Mich.) earned third-team recognition.

Northwood's (10-5-4, 9-2-3) season saw the blue and white accomplish many historical feats. 2021 and 2022 were just the second back-to-back 10-win seasons in school history as they hosted their first-ever conference tournament match (Walsh - October 29).

Both Honeycutt and Fowler appeared and started in all 19 games for the Timberwolves. Fowler's physical presence as the center-forward saw her lead the team with 11 goals and three assists for 25 points this season. Her 63 shots led the team and led the GMAC this season. Fowler was second in goals, first in shot attempts, and third in points within the conference.

Honeycutt was not far behind Fowler with 10 goals, as both combined for 21 of Northwood's 40 goals this season. The forward's speed to the edge saw her have a team-leading .278 shot percentage (minimum of seven shot attempts) on 36 shots scoring 10, including four game-winning goals this season. Honeycutt was third in both goals and game-winning goals in the GMAC.

Senior defender Wallace's calm demeanor was the strength of NU's backline. The lefty helped Northwood on numerous corner kick opportunities while scoring two herself and assisting on two others. Savannah set the program record for games played in a Northwood jersey at 72 on a senior day versus Kentucky Wesleyan (October 22).

Northwood's up-and-coming freshman Boyd was the key distributor for the Timberwolves, taking many of the free and corner kick opportunities. Her ball placement earned her nine assists, one shy of the program record in a season and second in the GMAC. Boyd's explosion onto the scene came September 14-28 as she earned GMAC Offensive Player of The Week honors, scoring three goals and assisting six others over a five-game stretch.
