RECAP: Northwood women's soccer hosted Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday (November 2) for senior day. The Timberwolves scored two unanswered second-half goals to leave with a 3-1 win.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a score from Carly Boyd in the 18'. Brooke Honeycutt's cross from the left side to the near post let Boyd battle before pushing it into the lower left corner, 1-0 NU.
  • Northwood held the 1-0 lead at the half, but just a 5-4 advantage on shots. Teams were equal in possession
  • Northwood's defense was uneasy starting the second as Kentucky Wesleyan scored less than a minute into the half. The Panthers won the ball 20 yards out before scoring off a lofted ball to the upper left corner, 1-1.
  • Following the equalizer, Northwood began to find its footing again, holding possession for the majority of the match. The Timberwolves took the lead when Ella Boyd crossed one to a wide-open Mari Jackson for the easy score in the 78'.
  • Stephanie O'Keefe put the match on ice in the 85', notching the Timberwolves' second unanswered goal of the match, 3-1 NU. Carly Boyd gave her the opportunity via a corner that she headed in, 2-1 NU. Boyd is one assist shy of the single-season assist record set by Julia Surma (10 - 2002).
  • Northwood held the Panthers scoreless over the final five minutes to take the 3-1 win. The win marks the third season in program history with 11+ wins (13 - 1999 and 15 - 2023).
