Andy Cole Named Volleyball Assistant Coach

Northwood University Head Volleyball Coach Tim Koth has announced the hiring of Andy Cole as Assistant Volleyball Coach.

"As with any new hire – there is a level of excitement and anticipation.  In the case of Andy – this is magnified for us." said Koth.  "Andy brings a high level playing and coaching pedigree to Northwood that I feel will immensely benefit me, our student athletes, and the University as a whole.  We welcome him, and look forward to the skill set he will bring to us on a daily basis."

A stellar playing career with Ohio State University saw him named to the USA Junior National Team in 2002; the MIVA Freshman of the Year in 2003; and a member of the 2005 OSU Final Four Team.  He was OSU's Co-Captain in 2006.

After completing his degree, Andy spent one season at Division I Loyola University-Chicago as an assistant for the women's program.  He completed his MBA while there.  He then went on to the Rote Raben Volleyball Club in Vilsbiburg, Germany, where the team placed 3rd in the German U20 National Championships in 2009.

Andy returned to the United States, where he served as the Assistant Coach for both the Men's and Women's programs at Lewis University from 2010-2012.  He made a return trip to the NCAA Men's Final Four in 2012 with the LU Men's team – this time as a coach. In 2011, Andy was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association 30 Under 30 group – which acknowledges young, up-and-coming coaches for their early career accomplishments.

"I am very optimistic about the potential to add value to an already strong foundation of the program," said Cole.

Cole will begin his coaching duties with Northwood University in mid-March.  NU is the defending GLIAC Champions, and is in the middle of their spring training segment.
