Volleyball Loses In Five Sets At Tiffin

TIFFIN, OHIO – The Northwood University volleyball team dropped a 3-2 match at Tiffin Saturday afternoon (October 4). Set scores were 25-23, 25-16, 16-25, 22-25, 15-10.

Northwood falls to 5-8 overall, 2-7 in the GLIAC. Tiffin improves to 7-6 overall, 4-5 in the GLIAC.

After dropping a tight first set and then losing the second, Northwood rallied back to take the third and the fourth sets 25-16 and 25-22. The Timberwolves had to come back from a 20-15 deficit in the fourth set to force a deciding fifth set.  But the Dragons used an 8-2 run in the fifth set to earn the victory.

For the match, Northwood hit .171 (59-28-181) while Tiffin finished at .208 (62-24-183). The Timberwolves finished with an 84-82 edge in digs while the Dragons held a 10-6 advantage in blocks.

Chelsea Watson (Bowling Green, Ohio/Niagara U.) and Allison Getty (Wayland, Mich.) led the way for Northwood, each finishing with 15 kills. Getty added 14 digs. Meghan Cleary (Howell, Mich. Farmington Hills Mercy) had 11 kills and 10 digs, while Birta Bjornsdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) and Lisa Kisil (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) added 24 and 19 digs, respectively.

Northwood will host Malone Friday night (October 10). Game time is set for 7 p.m.
